Clinical Interventions with Parents

In 2024 the US Surgeon General put out an advisory entitled “Parents Under Pressure” highlighting the stressors that impact the mental health, the well-being of parents and caregivers, the critical link between parental mental health and children's long-term well-being, and the urgent need to better support parents, caregivers, and families. Parent Coaching has been an area of increased growth      for counselors over the past decade and parents struggle with changing challenges to parenting. This presentation draws from Positive Discipline and Adlerian Psychology foundations to provide an introduction into parent coaching and ways to utilize these strategies to better support parents and families. It bridges the gap between traditional therapy and the growing demand for specialized parent support in today's challenging social and economic landscape.
