Welcome to PCA Montana!

Hello,

I am writing to introduce myself and share a little about what we are doing as the Professional Counselors Association  of Montana (PCA Montana).  We are a state affiliate of the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA). I have been a licensed mental health counselor since 2010 and am currently completing my doctoral work in counselor education and supervision. I am the current president of PCA Montana.

My primary goals have been to find ways to connect the counselors of Montana to each other and to top notch CE opportunities. In 2024 we launched PCA Montana with a one day virtual conference, which received rave reviews. This Spring we will again provide virtual training conference workshops, but will add evening in-person social events to that conference.  Details will be updated at our Conference 2025 page and the Upcoming Events page where you can find all events and their registration links.

Other goals of my presidency include:

  • Monthly/Bimonthly virtual lunch & learns (1CE over the noon hour) with discounted rates for members
  • To secure PCA Montana status as a NBCC Approved CE Provider (ACEP)
  • To develop an active/interactive online platform for members to connect, share referrals, list jobs, learn about upcoming legislative concerns, etc...
  • Develop a full and active board of directors supported by active committee leaders
  • Advocate for professional counselors' concerns with the Montana licensure board
  • Advocate for the concerns of professional counselors and our clients with the state legislature
  • Find ways to insure counselors in the more rural and remote areas of the state have access to training, networking and peer support

I love connecting with members personally so do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.  I have just begun the process of moving our website to a more robust platform that I hope will support many of the goals above.  Also, disclaimer...I am a counselor, supervisor, educator, mother, business owner...I am not a computer programmer or web designer so thank you for all your support and patience as I work to improve our digital engagement!

Please consider this an open invitation to conversation, I really want to make sure this association is not only supporting Montana counselors, but representing their voices...when we can come together as a bigger voice we can have a bigger impact on the issues that impact our profession and our clients.

We currently have several committees with open spots and have elections every year.  You can learn more on the About Us page and of course feel free to email me personally about any association questions.

In closing, I need to give a shout out to our current board members, they are amazing! I constantly have lots of ideas and they are always game to jump in and see how we can get things done.  And thank you all for your dedication to your clients, to our profession and for supporting PCA Montana!

Warmly,
Cindy
