Hello,
I am writing to introduce myself and to share with you new and exciting updates about our work as the Professional Counselors Association of Montana. We were formally known as Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors Assoc of Montana. We are a state affiliate of the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA). I am the current president of PCA Montana.
We are in the process of developing PCA Montana into a strong state association to serve the needs of mental health counselors and increase mental health awareness in our communities. We have an active website www.pcamontana.org where we will keep you updated for new events, activities and opportunities.
Please check our website regularly to stay informed of counseling news, events and opportunities. Recent and upcoming offerings from PCA Montana include:
- A very successful all day telehealth workshop (6CE)
- Ongoing workshops and webinars available at special "members only" pricing
- Updated bylaws which will be posted on our website once they have been finalized
- Nominations for new board positions and upcoming elections!

In order to address legislative challenges to mental health practices in Montana, we are interested to joining forces with other state association, including, but not limited to: social workers, marriage and family therapists and licensed addiction counselors. As you may know we are going to have a very challenging 2025 legislative year. I have been a licensed therapist for 37 years and I have seen several legislative sessions where our license and how we can practice has been at risk. I am concerned that we are approaching similar challenges in the upcoming legislative year. This is another reason to join PCA Montana and AMHCA. We will be fighting for your rights to practice within the scope of your training and not have legislators tell you who can see and how you do therapy.
During mental health awareness month I would like to encourage you to join our association and get involved. You can join at either at the state level alone through PCA of Montana, or through a joint membership at both the national and state level with AMHCA and PCA Montana's unified dues membership program. We need you more now than ever! Having a strong professional association insures we have a powerful way to advocate for ourselves, our license and overall mental health practices!
The board and I want to personally thank you for all of your hard work and dedication with clients! As rewarding as our work is, these are challenging time. Please take good care of yourselves.
